Boilers Hold Off History & Make History

DeFouw Chevrolet is proud to celebrate and congratulate our local collegiate men's basketball team, the Purdue Boilermakers (21-2), in their weekend win as they conquered longtime rivals the Indiana Hoosiers (12-10). What started as an apparent upset of the Boilers' potential 17 consecutive-win streak, with the first six shots missed from beyond the arc, turned into a record breaking game for the West-siders.

With the help of senior center Issac Haas, who scored 14 points in the first half, 26 overall, tying a career high, and 5 of 6 made free-throws, Purdue took the lead. The momentum carried over into the second-half, keeping the Hoosiers' attempts to regain the lead at bay. With their 74-67 win over the Hoosiers, the Boilermakers improved 21-2 overall and 10-0 in the Big Ten, improving their personal record against Indiana (taking the last three straight games from the Hoosiers, and 5 of the 6 with IU).
As the Boilermakers continue their best start in league play with a 17-game winning streak, the longest in school history and tied for the eighth longest in Big Ten history, they are making other historic moves for the university. With Sunday's win, the Purdue senior class became only the third class since 1935 to win three times in Indiana's Assembly Hall. Also, after Sunday's win, the Boilers won their seventh straight road game (dating to last year), the second- longest road winning streak in the country.
The Purdue men's basketball team hopes to continue their journey of success and dominance Wednesday, January 31st, as they host Maryland at Mackey Arena. Come out and support this epic team, and remember to wear your gold and black gear. Boiler Up!
