4 Family Friendly Events In The Lafayette Area This Fall

Lafayette’s weather has been on a wild ride lately with temperatures dropping one week, returning to the 80’s the next, and then down to the mid 40’s and 50’s . Well with it finally feeling like fall, with the air crisp and cool, and the leaves turning, it’s time to check out some of the great autumn and Halloween related activities within our community.

The Great Pumpkin Patch

2010 Congress Street, Lafayette, IN

Open : Now through Oct. 31st

11 a.m. – 7 p.m. , everyday

The Great Pumpkin Patch is located at Congress Street United Methodist Church across from Loeb Stadium. The pumpkin patch has items for sale including pumpkins, straw bales, and delicious fall treats like pumpkin rolls and pumpkin sugar cookies. This event is family and kid friendly, and is open through the month 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., everyday. Also pumpkin sale profits go to local programs such as Hunger Hike, Pack Away Hunger, and Honor Flight.

8th Annual Trail Of Scarecrows

5545 Swisher Road, West Lafayette, IN

Open: Now through Nov. 5th

11 a.m. – 7 p.m., everyday

The 8th Annual Trail of Scarecrows is located at Prophetstown State Park in West Lafayette and is a great opportunity to do something fun with family and friends this fall. Visitors hike on the bike trail beginning at the Prairie View Picnic Area and make their way to Prophetstown’s Trail of Scarecrows. The scarecrows on display are all created by someone within the community- businesses, families, etc. Visitors may also place a “penny vote” on the scarecrow they think is best. These penny votes benefit the “interpretative programs” at the state park. The Trail of Scarecrows event is family friendly.

Imagination Station’s Annual Haunted Lab

600 North 4th Street, Lafayette, IN

Open: Oct. 27th 5:30 p.m.  & Oct. 28th 10 a.m. – 3.pm.

Imagination Station’s Annual Haunted Lab event, turns the everyday lab area into a spooky setting, perfect for Halloween. At the event, kids will get to interact with numerous lab stations, for hands-on fun. The haunted lab is great for children ages 3-12, but welcomes all. Also, all children will receive a goody bag filled with treats. Imagination Station will hold the haunted lab on two occasions, one evening holding, then again the following day at normal hours. Attend A Purdue Boilermakers Football Game

The highly anticipated Old Oaken Bucket Game is what Purdue football fans wait for all year. The game will be held on Saturday November 25th, on the west side at Ross-Ade Stadium where the Boilermakers will host the Indiana Hoosiers, in hopes of reclaiming the Old Oaken Bucket trophy, something they haven’t done since 2012. But this could be Purdue’s year once again, as history is on the side of the black and gold, as the Boilermakers lead the series 72-41-6. So, put on your Purdue gear and take your friends and family to cheer on the Boilermakers in this exhilarating and historical sporting event that our community has celebrated since 1925. Boiler up!
